Recent Achievments
Several key FPI employees attended the TYCO sprinkler commodity classification and sprinkler standard design class this April. The class was presented to FPI at the Rhode Island TYCO training center. The course work consisted of case studies and proper sprinkler selection for many different commodity classifications. In addition, TYCO was also kind enough to provide FPI with formal training on their new diaphragm style pre action sprinkler valves. TYCO provided FPI with more formal training on the inspection and testing of a multitude of sprinkler trim configurations. FPI thanks TYCO for their hospitality and superb training.
Warde Comeaux will be presenting Sprinklers 101 at the Prism Annual Meeting in Reno, NV in early May. We will be exhibiting at the show so stop and say hello.
FPI recently participated in the Fire Protection Research Foundation High Challenge Warehouse Workshop. Several fire protection engineering firms were given a storage scenario and asked how they would protect a high rack warehouse building provided with multi-row racks with the provision that the fire department would not enter the building to fight the fire. FPI presented a concept based on the use of high expansion foam along with building modifications that were designed to suppress the fire, save the building and protect both occupants and fire fighters. Over 150 participants attended the session. The presentations may be viewed at the Research Foundation website. http://www.nfpa.org/assets/files//PDF/Newsletters/FPRFMarApr2010.pdf
The California office continues to grow with the recent addition of Andrew Pillot.
